Meanwhile, talking about the couple’s wedding buzz, Deepika and Ranveer are set to get hitched on November 10.

While the wedding is likely to take place in Bengaluru, a reception will take place in Mumbai soon after.

Deepika has been seen shopping with her family time and again in Bengaluru for the wedding while, Ranveer has bought an apartment in the same building as his parents in Bandra.

Bollywood megastar Salman Khan had given word seven years earlier that he will be launching his bodyguard’s son into the film industry and it appears that the esteemed actor still remembers his promise.

The 52-year-old actor known for his generosity will be giving his bodyguard Shera’s son Tiger his Bollywood debut in an action-packed film soon, as revealed by an inside source.

“It was a promise Salman made to Shera when his son Tiger was born. Salman had picked up the newly born boy and said, ‘Yeh hero banega. Main banaunga.’ Shera thought it was a passing comment made in excitement on seeing the newly born. But as Tiger grew older Salman would frequently mention the boy’s debut,” stated the source.

The Race 3 actor has had Shera as his trusted-aide since a long time now. The bouncer had also appeared next to Salman and his co-star Katrina Kaif in the title track of the 2011 released film Bodyguard.

The source close to Salman revealed further to Deccan Chronicle that, “Of late Salman had become more resolute about Tiger’s launch. He reassured Shera that Tiger would be launched right after Salman’s brother-in-law Aayush Sharma’s Loveratri is out. Salman will ensure Tiger’s debut is as promising as Aayush’s. Shera can give his life for Salman. This is the least Salman can do for him.”

“Sometimes when you least expect it, life throws you a curve-ball. I have recently been diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has metastasized, which we frankly did not see coming,” the actor said in a statement posted on Twitter and Instagram.

“A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”

The actor added that she is currently undergoing treatment in New York.

“We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful,” she said.

“I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me,” the actor added.

Sonali made her Bollywood debut in 1994 with Govinda’s Aag and went on to rule Bollywood during the 90s and early 2000s, with films such as Sarfarosh, Duplicate, Major Saab, Hum Saath Saath Hain and Diljale.

The actor recently stepped down as the judge of popular TV show India’s Best Dramebaaz and was last seen on the silver screen in 2013 in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

Amir Jordan recently competed in the ongoing WWE UK Championship tournament, becoming the second Pakistani to compete in WWE. He originally hails from the North Nazimabad in Karachi and previously worked as a banker before entering the world of professional wrestling.

Jordan, whose real name is Bilal Ansari, spoke with The Express Tribune about his journey into pro-wrestling and his ambition to become an international performer. Spending his early years in Pakistan, Jordan’s family moved to the UK when he was four. Although he came back to the motherland for schooling, he has spent most of his formative years abroad.

“I became a fan of pro-wrestling because of my grandmother. She didn’t understand what they talked about because of the language barrier but appreciated the performances. I think this is how I realised the beauty of wrestling,” revealed the wrestler. “It doesn’t matter what language you speak. This art form has its own universal language so people connect with it all over.”

A few years into banking, Jordan had a “eureka moment” and decided he “didn’t want to spend life on an office desk.” He then trained under one of the most respected names in the industry, veteran wrestler himself Lance Storm and Marty Jones.

Jordan’s philosophy, is to entertain and thus came his gimmick as a bhangra dancer. Talking about why he chose the dance style as his persona, despite several other South Asian performers doing the same, he said, “Don’t we do bhangra in our wedding celebrations? I’ve seen it everywhere in Pakistan. And as entertainers, we have to give our audience a taste of something familiar.”

He continued, “As a Pakistani-British, I want to represent Pakistanis everywhere. In wrestling, I want to portray Pakistanis and Muslims positively. So, with this friendly and fun persona, people enjoy themselves.”

The Pakistani star describes his wrestling style as a mix of high-flying and traditional British. In the WWE UK tournament, he faced Zack Gibson in a losing effort in the first round. However, his match was well-received by the live audience. Even though Jordan came up short, it’s a big victory for him to have competed for WWE. He described the experience saying, “It’s a totally different atmosphere. In the independent circuit, you are mostly on your own but WWE treats you like a star. They take care of everyone.”

Jordan is not wrong. In fact, just a couple of days ago, WWE announced their own full-fledged NXT UK brand with separate championships. British performers such as Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Danny Burch, Trent Seven and others have been slowly making their names in NXT as well.

So what’s next for Jordan? Without clarifying whether WWE has offered him a contract or not, he said he would very much like to be a part of the UK brand. “Everyone’s goal is to be in the main event of WrestleMania or win the WWE Championship but I want to take it one step at a time. Right now, I want to join NXT UK brand and be the next UK Champion.”

Jordan’s participation marks a small but significant milestone for Pakistanis across the world. With WWE expanding their global brand with a new UK division, their recent Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, upcoming Super Show-Down event in Australia, and a growing number of international performers on the roster, the day may not be far when we see WWE make their presence known in Pakistan. What does Jordan think of it? He cites the ‘never say never’ motto of WWE and says, “Anything can happen.”

Anushka Sharma and her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli, have reportedly been served a legal notice by a man the Bollywood actor shamed in a recent social media post for littering in public.

Kohli shared a video of Anushka scolding a man in a “luxury car” for throwing ‘plastic’ out of his car’s window.

The post went viral soon after it was shared and according to reports the man, part-time actor Arhhan Singh, has sent a legal notice to the couple for shaming him in front of their millions of followers.

“My legal advisers have sent a notice to Mr Virat Kohli and Mrs Anushka Sharma Kohli. As the ball is in their court, no comments now… as in all fairness I should await their response,” Arhhan is reported to have told Zee News over text message.

Earlier after Kohli posted the video on his Instagram and Twitter accounts, Arhhan in a Facebook post hit back at the couple. “The garbage that mistakenly went out of the window of my ‘luxury car’ was way less than the garbage that came out from your mouth, from your ‘luxury car’s window, or the trashy mind of Virat Kohli to shoot and post this online… for whatever gains. Now that’s some serious trash,” he said.

His mother also expressed concern for his safety in an Instagram post. “As a mother, I would like to state that you have not only shamed my son @arhhansingh on social media by not blurring his face, but you’ve also exposed him to unwanted hostility…. and danger from fanatics for such a small thing that you claim he has done but have no proof of anyways ? I am concerned about my son’s safety!!!” she wrote.

The video, which gathered millions of views, received mixed reactions on the internet with some accusing Anushka of being ‘rude’, ‘impolite’ and ‘arrogant’ and others supporting her.

During the hearing, presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Shehzad Ahmed, Ali’s counsel, Rana Intezar Hussain, argued that Meesha “levelled false and baseless allegations of harassment” against his client.

Ali’s counsel told the additional sessions judge, “Meesha did not apologise despite being sent a legal notice.”

Urging the court to direct the singer-cum-actor to pay Rs1 billion in defamation charges, Ali’s counsel said, “She levelled allegations against my client for cheap publicity.”

On Saturday, Ali submitted a defamation suit to a district court against Meesha.

The suit, claiming damages of Rs1 billion, was filed under the Defamation Ordinance 2002.

In April, Meesha Shafi took to Twitter to publicly accuse Ali Zafar of physically harassing her on “more than one occasion”.

“This happened to me despite the fact I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind!” her statement had read.

Ali, on the other hand, had “categorically” denied the allegations and threatened to take legal action against the actress.

“I intend to take this through the courts of law, and to address this professionally and seriously rather than to lodge any accusations here,” the singer had said on Twitter.

Sultan Rahi was born in a Muslim family in Saharanpur, Utter Pardesh, India, in 1938. His family migrated to Pakistan after partition and settled in Gujranwala after 1947.

He remained the most popular Punjabi hero during 1970s and 1980s. He appeared in more than seven hundred Punjabi and Urdu-language films and named in the Guinness Book of Records as the most prolific actor.

His film Maula Jatt — released in 1979 — broke all records and became a trend setter in Punjabi films, thus changing trajectory of his career.

He had a voice like thunder and a rock-hard personality, which gave him a unique edge over the stars in the industry. Some of his dialogues are still popular and heard and cited in other films and dramas to this day.

Sultan starred in more than 750 Punjabi and Urdu films. However, his career came to an abrupt halt on 9th January 1996, as he was shot dead by armed persons during a robbery attempt on Grand Trunk Road near Gujranwala.

His persona and legacy will remain an inspiration for the actors of the Pakistani film industry.

Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man, is the 20th release in a decade from the Marvel Cinematic Universe series of comic book movies, and the first to feature a woman in the title.

“We always knew that the next one was going to be Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Kevin Feige, the president of Disney-owned Marvel Studios, told AFP at a global press day for the movie in Pasadena, Southern California yesterday.

“It’s finally time to see her suit up and be the hero that she said earlier she wanted to be.”

The 2015 movie featured Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne as a wannabe superhero and she returns here leaner, meaner and ready to step up on an equal footing with Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.

Lilly told AFP the plan was to introduce the Wasp’s origin story in Marvel’s 2016 release Captain America: Civil War along with Ant-Man and the other Avengers.

“I got a call saying, ‘We’ve decided not to put you in Civil War’ and there was this moment, I could tell, where the feeling in the room was like, ‘I’m sorry – don’t be offended,’” she said.

“I was like, ‘Are they going to give me a movie? Is that what they’re saying?’ And they said, ‘We really want to dedicate a film to introducing this female superhero and we don’t want her just to be a side note.”

Crazy fun

The surprise of double-billing came later when Marvel sent her a screen capture with the Wasp in the title.

The premise behind Ant-Man is refreshingly simple: Scott Lang, a petty criminal with a lot of heart, can get very big or quantum-level small via a suit that manipulates his subatomic particles.

Ant-Man and the Wasp – directed, like the first movie, by Peyton Reed – sees Lang languishing under house arrest in San Francisco after being caught as his superhero alter-ego fighting some of the other Avengers in Civil War.

As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Van Dyne and her father, the brilliant quantum physicist Hank Pym, with an urgent new mission.

The original was admired by critics but is one of the least successful MCU releases at box offices worldwide.

That actually means very little when the competition is other Marvel movies – it still went on to a global gross of more than US$500 million.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is expected to open domestically around US$75 million over the weekend of July 6 – a considerable improvement on the US$57 million the first film took.

The early social media reaction from preview screenings has been almost universally glowing.

“Ant-Man and The Wasp is crazy fun. Very self-contained, but brimming with energy, and full of cool and creative surprises,” tweeted CinemaBlend critic Eric Eisenberg.

“Super funny, and the entire cast is wonderful. I had a blast!”

Eye-popping

Rudd (Anchorman, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Lilly (The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, Lost) are joined by an illustrious support cast, including Oscar-winner Michael Douglas and nominees Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne.

Michael Pena (The Martian, Chips) returns to provide much of the comic relief alongside Walton Goggins (Vice Principals) and Bobby Cannavale (I, Tonya).

It’s not just the good guys (and gals) who are inclusive; Ghost, played by British actress Hannah John-Kamen, follows Cate Blanchett (Thor Ragarnok) as a rare front-and-center supervillain.

“I am the second female villain in the Marvel Universe,” John-Kamen told AFP on the sidelines of the news conference.

“With Ghost, it’s a male character in the comics and it’s designed male, but to be the first person to take it off the page and actually give her life, it was an honor.”

The movie – an eye-popping blend of intricate fight sequences, stunning chases,and laugh-out-loud family-friendly comedy – was co-written by Rudd.

As with many Marvel movies, the bulk of filming took place in and around Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia.

“I try to think of the film as a whole, but I will say this: this has been a collaborative effort more than anything I’ve ever worked on,” the typically self-effacing Rudd said.

“To think I wrote it would be a gross overstatement.”

Ranbir Kapoor who is playing the role of Sanjay Dutt can be seen donning different avatars paying true justice to the different stages of Sanjay Dutt’s unbelievable life.

While many are already offering their predictions for “Sanju” as a sure blockbuster there are some who may not be too mesmerized by Ranbir’s excellent acting skills.

Recently Salman Khan stated that no one apart from Sanjay Dutt himself could have played the past decade of his life and do it justice.

Ranbir, on the other hand, responded to the same question saying said that a person has never played himself in his own biopic till date. He feels that it reduces the effect of the character.

Though the actor knows he will be compared to the real Dutt, he believes he has tried his best to justice to the role. He further added that the audience should feel they are watching an artist playing the character of Baba, whether in his 40s or youth. That said, Ranbir agreed that he cannot be a second Sanjay Dutt.

Dia Mirza who is also part of the cast said that Sanjay is quite shy about this Biopic I am not sure if he even wants to have a cameo in the film. It would be awkward to see Sanjay Dutt featured as himself in his own biopic, said the actress.

She added that the beauty and charm of witnessing one’s life through another person’s performance are what makes it so refreshing.
